This winter climbing course is conducted in the best alpine climbing training ground in California - The Sawtooth Ridge of the Eastern Sierra which mimics the iconic alpine terrain of the European Alps on a smaller scale. In this course, you will establish a foundation of essential glacier mountaineering skills and put them to use while ascending to the summit of Mount Baker. After completing the Advanced Mountaineering Course (with a certain grade), one can apply for the Method of Instruction or/and the Search and Rescue course. The introductory course will teach new ice climbers the basics of ice climbing, crampons, ice tools, ice screws, belaying, knots and top-rope climbing techniques - all the basics required to be a competent top-roping ice climbing partner.
